Yes Cardi B, the baddest babe in the game is coming to Africa and she’s starting her journey with Nigeria, the big brother of Africa and will be hitting the  Livespot X Festival stage in Lagos.

Belcalis Marlenis Almanzar as she was originally named is the daughter of a Dominican father and Trinidadian and Spanish mother and has had a pretty rough history of struggle, determination and hard work that has bagged her the title of Queen of rap thanks to the award she received at the 61st Grammys as the woman to have won the best rap album award at the Grammys with a solo album from her debut Invasion Of Privacy. An award won out of a very strong list of nominees of Mac Miller, Nipsey Hussle, Pusha T, and Travis Scott.

As a girl she was raised by her paternal grandmother in South Bronx in New York and became a real gang member at 16 with the Bloods. Her gang activities never stopped her from pursuing her dreams and love for school as she attended Renaissance High School for Musical Theatre & Technology and later entered college at the Borough of Manhattan Community College before she eventually dropped out.

From being a supermarket attendant, lived with an abusive boyfriend and his mother and later moved on to being a stripper to make her own money which helped in furthering her studiesuntil she dropped out. From being the lady who posted snarky videos on Instagram and Vine, either twerking in a bikini or wearing a bra as a top in a hallway she became the woman and mother she is today.

Her casting in VH1’s reality television show, Love and Hip Hop: New York season 6 gradually brought her to limelight, she later featured on various famous American TV shows such as Uncommon Sense with Charlamagne in December 2015 and she was also  on Khloe Kardashian’s Kocktails with Khloe and later she joined the BET series, Being Mary Jane in November 2016, and starred in two episodes of Hip hop squares. She also featured on a cable TV commercial for Romantic Depot which also featured on the radio.

Her musical journey began when she remixed Shaggy’s hit song Boom Boom, featuring Popcaan in 2015, her Cheap Ass Weave followed and so did her first mixtape titled Gangsta Bitch Music Vol 1. Underestimated was also released by KSR Group, an album with many collaborations from the group with Cardi. By 2017 Gangsta Bitch Music Vol 2 was out and afterwards her hit single, Bodak Yellow came out, earning double platinum in Australia and quadruple platinum in Canada, Gold platinum in France, Italy, New Zealand and the United Kingdom and six times Platinum in the United States while it hit the top 100 on the billboard as the first solo rap.

From then onwards Cardi was on a roll, though she was afraid of being a “one hit” artist, she kept on pushing forward and she featured on hits like No Limit with G Eazy, Motorsport with Neos and Nicki Minaj and Finesse with Bruno Mars. Her song Bartier Cardi, with 21 Savage also got platinums and her coming albums Invasion of Privacy featured two songs as singles. With the  album receiving double platinum in the United States, Platinum in Britain and Canada and Platinum in New Zealand.

Many have speculated that she would be coming to motherland with her full family of her husband Offset with whom she tied the knot quietly in  2017, her daughter Kulture Kiari Cephus who she never leaves alone and most likely her sister and her mother.

But whichever way she might be coming, come December 7 and 8, 2019 Livespot X Festival will be on fire with the crazy, sassy, say-it-all Cardi mama.
