The Amazon founder and CEO and also the richest person in the world has through his Bezos Day One Fund donated to help the homeless in America.

Based on his prior announcement in 2018, Bezos pledged $2 billion to the fund to fight for two core areas of focus which were; the funding of the work of organizations that help homeless families, and creating Montessori-inspired preschools across the country.

The announcement was done with Bezos filling with the Securities Exchange Commission that he was donating 56,702 shares  of Amazon stock which is estimated at about $99 million to nonprofits.

$97.5 million was given by Bezos last year to organizations fighting homelessness to 24 organizations across 16 states in USA, this year the number of recipients was increased by Bezos and also an extra million was donated for it.

No official announcement has been made so far with regards to the Bezos Day One Fund’s progress on its creating a network of preschools. But  Bezos has posted on Instagram several times in the last year about visiting Montessori-inspired schools but no further news is known yet.

It’s charity for a very expensive cause.
